Punk Rockers Still Believe 'Amityville Horror'

San Diego, CA -- Although the case of the "Amityville Horror" has been discredited as a hoax, folks who live in the town of Amityville, New York, take it seriously.

Case in point: Amityville residents Eddie Rayes and Mark O'Connell -- who both play in the Long Island-based punk band Taking Back Sunday -- are both firm believers.

For those unfamiliar with the case, in 1974, teenager Ronald DeFeo murdered his entire family in their Amityville home. A year later, George and Kathy Lutz moved into the house, and, soon after, strange phenomena drove them from the house.

However, paranormal investigator Joe Nickell -- who claims he's "been in more haunted houses than Casper" -- insists the case is bunk.

He claims the case was concocted by the Lutzes -- who wanted quick fame -- and Ronald DeFeo's lawyer, who wanted to get his client off with an insanity defense.

Still, band member O'Connell doesn't let skeptics get him down, insisting, "It definitely happened."

Taking Back Sunday is currently on the Warped tour promoting their debut album, "Where You Want To Be."
