Civil War Karaoke

Los Angeles, CA -- This Friday (Jul. 23), the patrons at a Los Angeles karaoke bar are going to party like it's 1864.

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. local time, the microphone at Caffe Brass Monkey will be dedicated to the top hits of the Civil War, including moth-eaten troop tunes like "Dixie" and "Johnny Comes Marching Home."

The leap back in time is sponsored by the producers of "1864," an upcoming documentary which draws parallels between the U.S. presidential elections of 1864 and 2004.

All in all, six Civil War songs will be cued up and ready for karaoke kings and queens at the event, which will be filmed by the documentary crew.

Producers are hoping to get a number of Civil War buffs to attend the event and rip through some of the ancient anthems, but no one will be forced to sing the songs against their will.

In fact, associate producer J.J. Gaines admits, "we may get a few people who want to sing Olivia Newton-John instead."
