Berrien Springs, MI -- The citizens of Berrien Springs, Michigan, don't mind getting in a pickle because cucumbers are a big "dill" in town.

Every July, Berrien Springs hosts its annual Pickle Festival and organizers promise a sweet set of events dedicated to the sour snack.

Besides the pickle recipe contest, pickled pickle pickers will be able to compete in pickle smashing as well.

But some people prefer decorating dills to eating them, such as Pickle Festival loyalist Amy Beth Payne.

Her favorite event at the pickle party is the costume contest where contestants make pickle cars, pickle bunnies, pickle people, pickle monsters and many other things out of pickles.

Payne also says will also be all sorts of pickled goodies like the chocolate-covered pickle but don't ask her how it tastes. She says she doubts she'll try the candy-coated cuke unless, in her words, "...the recipe involved deep frying, ranch dressing and pregnancy cravings."

This year's Pickle Festival takes place July 25.
