|
Hubertus, WI -- In an ending similar to that of Geraldo Riviera's Al Capone vault special, a team of investigators who dug up a field near Roswell, New Mexico, found no evidence to prove the 1947 UFO crash. The team of amateur archaeologists and UFO investigators, who were backed by the SciFi Channel and the University of New Mexico, document their search in the new book, "The Roswell Dig Diaries" (Pocket Books). UFO investigator and co-author of the book, Donald R. Schmidt, says that some of the items recovered are still being tested at the University of New Mexico. But the important thing was to prove that a UFO had made a gouge in the area they were excavating, and, unfortunately, they didn't turn up any material which suggested that was the case. While Schmidt is planning to go back to the site, he knows that the odds are against him finding anything more due to 30 mph winds, sudden rainstorms, and animals stealing fragments.
