Canadian Cooking Shows Leave Bad Taste In Food Safety Researchers' Mouths

New York, NY -- It may be tough to swallow, but food safety researchers are claiming Food Network Canada's health practices are more than unsavory.

According to "Broadcasting & Cable" magazine, food safety researchers at Canada's University of Guelph have found chefs on Food Network Canada violate an average of 14 health rules per hour.

They found one chef who used his knife as a fly swatter and another who "squeezed a lemon with his teeth."

But the Canadians may be getting the heat unnecessarily.

Editors at "Broadcasting & Cable" point out that most of the programming for the Canadian channel is actually done in the U.S.
