Studio City, CA -- The official U.S. artist for the 2004 Olympics has a real handle on the athletes who will be participating in the Games. Susan Manders says her routine isn't too different from that of an Olympic competitor: She works every day to perfect her craft. In addition, she thinks she shares a common perspective with the athletes in that they focus on the big picture, not just a short-term goal. The one thing Manders didn't expect to share with an Olympian is the feeling of being a hero, but since she started touring schools and colleges to talk about her Olympic portrait, "All Eyes On Me," she's been treated like a star by students. The artist's painting will be on display at this summer's Olympic Games, but, unfortunately, she won't be there to see it. Manders says she won't be able to attend the Games in Greece because she has "more than enough to keep me busy" this summer.
