New York, NY -- Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug won't be at the Olympics in Athens this year, but she will be a kitty version of the athletic games taking place next week in New York.

On June 22, Strug will participate in the Meow Mix Gold Medal Games, where cat lovers mimic their favorite pets in a series of challenges.

For starters, there's the "Hairball Toss" where human contestants throw synthetic hairballs into a metal trash can to see who can land the most shots in 30 seconds.

In the "Litter Box Cleanup" event, Strug and others will sift through a litter-filled pan to find plastic tokens. Finally, there's the "Victory Lap," where challengers have to slurp water from a cat bowl in record time.

Winners receive gold, silver and bronze-colored medals just like Olympians would, and Meow Mix will donate a pound of cat food to a local animal shelter for each person who participates.
