Princeton, NJ -- Americans are more sexually experimental than you might realize -- at least that's what they think.

According to a poll by Trojan Condoms, 71 percent describe their sex lives as "experimental" while 29 percent preferred sticking with the "tried-and-true."

But not all Americans have big heads about their abilities. Although 52 percent consider themselves "seasoned sexual veterans," 48 percent admit they're still learning the ropes.

Other sexy stats probed from the poll....

-- 70 percent say abstinence is safe but "not very realistic."

-- Only 23 percent of Americans have condoms on them at all times.

-- 49 percent of women fear getting a sexually-transmitted disease compared to only 39 percent of men.

-- Finally, 49 percent of African-Americans refuse to have sex with anyone who refuses to use a condom compared to only 33 percent of caucasians.
