Why Women Date Jerks

New York, NY -- The rowdy boy readers of "Maxim" magazine will see how the other half lives in the upcoming July issue.

As part of a collaboration with the women's magazine "Marie Claire," the manly publication is quizzing members of the opposite sex on their thoughts about relationships.

The survey finds 13 percent of gals admit they date guys who are jerks because they think they can change them, but 36 percent say they do it because being with a schmuck makes the sweet moments even sweeter.

Seventy-seven percent of the ladies polled told "Maxim" it bothers them when their guy checks out other women, but 27 percent aren't bothered because "we know they can't help it."

Finally, if a guy cheated, 51 percent of the gals would break up with him immediately; 42 percent would "find out why it happened and consider putting him on probation" and 5 percent would go out and have an affair of their own.

"Maxim" hits newsstands June 19.
