Washington -- The U.S. government is giving a helping hand to disabled vets by allowing them to provide security at the White House. The U.S. General Services Administration announced yesterday (Jun. 1) that it has contracted with TW and Company, Inc. and America's Pride, Inc. to use disabled veterans as security guards while construction at the White House is under way. A spokesman for the GSA says vets escort the construction workers to and from their work. So far, roughly 40 veterans and disabled veterans are providing security, and ultimately there will be job opportunities for 75 to 100 vets.
