New York, NY -- The Pillsbury Bake-Off doesn't begin until June 26, but it's already a family affair for struggling actor Nick DeMatteo.

He's one of this year's finalists in the dessert category for his cheesecake cupcakes with granola bar crust -- and while it's his first bake-off, he still has a wealth of experience behind him.

DeMatteo's mother is a two-time finalist and his grandmother has also made it to what foodies call the "Rose Bowl of recipes."

The dynasty tag might stress some would-be bakers but DeMatteo is trying to take it in stride and enjoy the experience. Still, he admits his mother is really excited that he's following in her footsteps - and he may be getting caught up in her enthusiasm.

DeMatteo admits: "The closer it gets, the more exciting it gets."
