'Phenomena Tourism' Cropping Up

Boulder, CO -- Any tourist visiting England can see Buckingham Palace, but some travelers prefer to look at crop circles and angels.

Ron Russell, who runs a tour company of various popular crop circle sites in England, calls it "phenomena tourism" and it's cropping up in places where there are lots of UFOs and other unexplained goings-on.

"Phenomena tourists" are looking for "visual or sensory manifestations that normally remain unseen" and Russell says vacationers have seen everything from ghosts to strange balls of light in the sky.

One teenage girl had a real-life "Joan Of Arcadia" experience and ran into an archangel while exploring a crop circle.

It sounds like a spacey way to spend a vacation, but Russell says many tourists are "well-respected scientists" who use the visit as an opportunity for research.
