'Macarena' And 'Mambo No. 5' Greatest Songs Ever?

Boston, MA -- Songs like "Macarena" and "Mambo No. 5" may have been big hits but are they the greatest songs ever?

They are if you agree with the lineup of a new CD, "The Greatest Songs Ever."

Besides featuring Los Del Rio and Lou Bega Jr.'s one hit wonders, the album features "classics" like Musical Youth's "Pass The Dutchie," and "Soul Bossa Nova" -- a.k.a. the "Austin Powers" theme song.

Chris Murphy -- one of the executives behind the musical CD -- admits calling "Macarena" one of the "greatest songs ever" is definitely subjective but points out all the tunes "have their basis in some form of world music."

As such, Murphy figures the CD -- which also features Santana's "Oye Como Va" and the Buena Vista Social Club -- is a good introduction for his company's new "Greatest Songs Ever" series, which focuses on the music of countries like Italy, France, Ireland, Brazil and India.
