Sing About Food And You'll Never Hunger For Work

Los Angeles, CA -- These are the salad days for singer Ron Dante -- as long as he's singing about food.

Dante is a popular jingle singer who warbled "You Deserve A Break Today" for McDonald's and "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing" for Coca-Cola.

These days, his pockets are jingling even more.

Yoplait yogurt hired him to record "Itsy-Bitsy Teeny-Weeny Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini," and Applebee's Restaurants is using his rendition of "Happy Together" in a new TV ad campaign.

Dante's biggest hit, "Sugar Sugar" is always popular with companies who make sweets and many wedding disc jockeys are playing it during cake cutting ceremonies.

Dante insists he invests as much emotion into singing lyrics about fast food meal deals as he does with any song and tries to "imagine that the product he's singing about is the optimum fantasy."

Sometimes that's hard. Dante remembers the time he had to suffer through a session drinking a "rust-flavored soda pop" so bad that it never made it to market.
