Nutrition Expert: Low Carb Labels Are A Scam!

Glen Mills, PA -- When is a low-carb treat not low in carbohydrates? When the label makes a claim like "only 7 net carbs!"

That's according to a certified nutrition specialist from Pennsylvania who is on a one-man mission to warn dieters away from the "net carb" craze.

Gregory Ellis is a fan of low carb diets, but says the net carb label is misleading because it doesn't count large amounts of carbohydrates on the basis they're good for you.

Ellis says that idea is ridiculous, since the body treats all carbohydrates in the same manner: It takes any it doesn't burn and turns them into body fat.

He's started a website, netcarbscam.com, to further his mission and get weight watchers to avoid foods with "net carb" labels altogether.

Ellis says if a food company is unscrupulous enough to use the net carb "scam," it will probably lie about other nutritional information on the label.
