April 20: Next Big Hangover Holiday?

Washington, D.C. -- You may still be hung-over from St. Patrick's Day but the business community is already gearing up for another big "hangover holiday" -- April 20, or as it's known to stoners, "4-20".

The term "4-20" was originally a code word between teens in San Rafael, California, that meant they'd meet at 4:20 p.m. to smoke marijuana. Now, April 20 has become the stoners' unofficial national holiday; a "wacky tobacky" equivalent of Super Bowl Sunday or Oscar night -- and entrepreneurs are all abuzz.

Entertainers associated with cannabis culture like Afroman are releasing albums on April 20 and a San Diego art museum is showing the 1938 pot propaganda film, "Reefer Madness."

Even the pot activist group NORML is getting into the act, scheduling their annual convention as close to April 20 as possible.

Pot activist Paul Armentano isn't surprised the business community is jumping on the 4-20 bandwagon, saying it's "simply more evidence that marijuana is a visible part of the American culture."
