Los Angeles, CA -- It's not good to say a musicians' career is in the toilet, but sometimes the bathroom is the best place to see if the band is any good. That's one of the secrets used by Los Angeles disc jockey Rodney Bingenheimer, who is better known as "The Mayor Of The Sunset Strip." Bingenheimer has been instrumental in breaking bands like Nirvana, No Doubt, Coldplay and Van Halen and one of the ways he tells if a band is crap is to hear them in the bathroom at a gig. That's because the toilet filters out all the amps, allowing the band to be heard in its true glory. But while Bingenheimer has helped break bands to the mainstream, he's finally getting his break after 35-year career. He currently provides the voice of a fish disc jockey on "Spongebob Squarepants" and a documentary on his life, "Mayor Of The Sunset Strip," makes its world premiere March 22 before being released in Los Angeles March 26 and selected cities on April 9.
