Diamond Cutter Makes One Last Demonstration Before Cutting Out

Palm Desert, CA -- If anyone knows a diamond in the rough, it's Harvey Lieberman.

He's been a world-renowned diamond cutter for 31 years whose specialty is bringing out the true shine in the stones.

It's not an easy job. Lieberman has to chisel each diamond very carefully and says in his business, "You're only as good as your last stone."

Part of Lieberman's job has been demonstrating his craft around the world but he's cutting out all public appearances after this weekend's exhibition in Palm Desert, California.

He hopes to end his career at the top like John Elway or Michael Jordan by cutting up a 6.5 carat diamond reportedly worth $8 million.

Lieberman has studied the pink diamond extensively for the last six months but concedes there's always the risk of failure. For instance, he once saw a $100,000 diamond explode into a hundred pieces with a single whack and become "completely worthless."
