New York, NY -- Katherine Hepburn is often connected with Spencer Tracy but a new biography suggests he was more of a "beard" than a boyfriend.

According to "Katherine The Great" (BloodMoon), Hepburn was a notorious bisexual who had love affairs with Judy Garland and Greta Garbo and even invited a woman along on her honeymoon with husband Ludlow Ogden Smith.

Author Darwin Porter claims, in the beginning, Hepburn did have a sexual relationship with Tracy, but the actor was a homosexual alcoholic and, eventually, "she become his caretaker and he became her beard."

Hepburn's lesbian antics were supposedly "Hollywood's worst kept secret," but Porter says First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt made no bones about her crush on Kate, even sending mash notes which began with the words, "Oh, my darling Katherine...."
