Worldwide Bill Hicks 'Rant Revival' Set For Feb. 26

San Diego, CA -- February 26 marks the 10th anniversary of the death of controversial comedian Bill Hicks and the occasion is bringing about a worldwide rant.

Hicks is best known for his pointed dark comedy and comics plan to celebrate him by holding "rant revivals" in various cities around the world including San Diego, London, Boston and Belfast, Ireland, where they emulate his political satire.

Organizer Steven Kendrick says the chosen comedians all fit the criteria for a Hicks tribute: they've all been banned from at least one comedy club.

At the events, audience members will get their chance to get onstage and perform a "rant" of their own -- as long as they don't discuss cliched topics like flying, fast food or family life.

This is the first year that an official Hicks celebration has been organized but Kendrick says "February 26 is always a sad day for comics."
