|
Albany, NY (WFN) -- Now that major arthritis drugs like Vioxx have been proven dangerous to patients' health, some folks are turning to hot peppers to make their pain chill out. It may sound painful, but the spicy peppers are supposed to increase blood flow, thus relieving daily aches and pains from arthritis or other chronic pain disorders. One manufacturer of a diet supplement which contains capsaicin, the chemical which makes peppers hot, says customers who take super high doses report a reduction in pain. Wayne Perry, whose SiCap Industries makes the circulation-stimulating Pepper Boost product, says you'd have to eat at least a quarter pound of hot peppers to equal the amount of capsaicin in two ounces of his supplement. Although Pepper Boost isn't meant to be a pain reliever, he says the anecdotal evidence he's received from his clients has inspired him to start marketing it to arthritis sufferers.
