Atlanta, GA (WFN) -- Here's something to chew on while making your New Year's resolutions: 71 million Americans will be cutting calories in the new year. That's according to data from the Calorie Control Council which has released its predictions for 2005. A panel of experts in the field of obesity also believe the low-carb craze has peaked and may take a downward trend in 2005. Some reports show that purchasing of low-carb foods is already down. Meanwhile, a new buzzword for 2005 will be "calorie density." That's where you eat more "nutrient-dense" foods that are filling and replace high-calorie foods with lower-calorie foods. Unfortunately, the battle of the bulge will continue to take its toll on youngsters. Doctors expect that obese children will continue to pack on the pounds, but their plight will lead to mandatory physical education in schools and manufacturers to package foods in smaller portions.
