New York, NY -- The future of game shows may be here now thanks to a new series that combines modern technology with old rebus puzzles.

It's called "Video I.Q." and airs daily on the Fuse Network and creator Tad Low -- the man behind the VH-1 series, "Pop-Up Video" -- says it's the first time that a U.S. game has used text messaging to turn viewers into contestants.

The show features five videos per broadcast that feature a variety of highlighted images that are turned into rebus-type puzzles that, when deciphered, reveal a famous person, place or phrase such as Britney Spears' hubby Kevin Federline and Jessica Simpson.

Contestants who solve the problems the fastest win points that can be used towards prizes as well as what Low calls "the joy of knowing you're smarter than your friends."

Although game shows using text messaging are common in Europe and Asia, "Video I.Q." marks the first time that it has been the basis for a U.S. game show. Still, Low predicts it will be the wave of the future, while also being reminiscent of the old "Dialing For Dollars" concept used during daytime TV in previous generations.
