New York, NY (WFN) -- Although you don't want to be super sloppy during your office Christmas party, you also shouldn't be a slow-sipping Suzy when it comes to alcoholic drinks.

That's the advice of Jared Shapiro and Brad Embree, authors of the book, "Going Corporate: Moving Up Without Screwing Up" (St. Martins), an advice guide for cubicle constricted employees looking to get promoted.

Shapiro says boozing it up a little at the annual holiday fiesta shows you're a fun and social person, which will help increase your "Promotion Potential"

In Embree's words, "Even if you're not a big partier or drinker, you should still stick a beer in your hand."

While some at the party will make Jack Daniels and Samuel Adams' their best friends, Embree says schmoozing with the boss will be more productive because it's a good time for you to get noticed and to make a good impression.

However, whatever you choose to do during the bash, Shapiro says always remember that "you're still in a workplace environment" so "don't make a fool of yourself."
