New York, NY -- Actress Isabella Rossellini doesn't take a "holier-than-thou" approach to religion, despite playing a High Priestess in her upcoming TV mini-series "Legend of EarthSea."

In the fantasy role, Rossellini plays the wizened "Thar," who she describes as a "female Pope."

In real-life though, Rossellini is neither pro nor con for women being priests in the Catholic church.

She says she was raised Catholic, but she doesn't study up on the "hierarchy of the Church" or the reason women can't be priests.

Contemplating the reason why there are no female Catholic priests, she says, "It might be the same old story."

"Legend of EarthSea" airs on SCI-FI Channel on December 13.
