|
Los Angeles, CA (WFN) -- Diane Keaton is acting on a new challenge -- getting Americans to adopt 300,000 pets by the New Year. Keaton is the celeb spokesperson for Have A Heart Pet Adoption Drive, which aims to get 300,000 cats, dogs and other pets out of animal shelters and into homes by Jan. 2. She's especially interested in finding homes for mature pets, especially those previously owned by elderly folks who are too sick to care for their companion animals. The Oscar-winning actress practices what she preaches. She goes out of her way to find homes for abandoned pets and found her prized mutt, Red, when he was running down the streets of Austin, Texas, "pretending he was a Corgi." In her words, "Initially, I didn't want him but I couldn't unload him. He must have 10 lives." Prospective pet parents can learn more about the pet adoption drive by calling 1-800-566-5038.
