| 2004-12-07 - Weird News Wireless Flash News Tom Arnold Makes Like Carl Lewis For Sports Score | ||
|
New York, NY (WFN) -- Back before he was famous, Tom Arnold says he was willing to throw his job into the meat grinder at the meat packing plant where he used to work just to catch the score of a big sports game. "The Best Damn Sports Show Period" co-host says a Boston Red Sox/ New York Yankees tilt in 1978 was such a "big game" he sprinted from work to a bar down the street "every couple of innings" to catch the score. He says he was considered "the king of the meat packing plant" by co-workers after his Carl Lewis-like runs to the pub. While Arnold's experience may sound heroic, it doesn't compare to the stories of the contestants he will be judging today (Dec. 7) at the final event of the "How Low Did You Go to Catch the Big Game" contest by MSN Direct in New York. Arnold along with Michael Strahan will pick the best story, and contenders include a sports-obsessed sailor who diverted a Navy submarine just to get the radio signal for a game.
