Portland, OR (WFN) -- A lot of Americans are saying bah humbug to holiday traditions this year. According to a new survey by Gail Kasper consulting group, 40 percent of adults are only going through the Merry Christmas motions rather than enjoying them. Out of those Scrooges, 32 percent would prefer taking a vacation more than visiting their family; 36 percent would be happier doing laundry than sending out holiday cards; and 19 percent would be happier watching TV than attending family functions. Meanwhile, respondents were asked to rate the things that depress them most on a 10-point scale -- with 10 being the worst -- and lacking enough money to purchase gifts ranked the highest with a 5.5 rating while the war in Iraq came in No. 2 with a 5.0 rating and being alone came in third with 4.4 points.
