	2004-11-19 - Weird News Wireless Flash News Rocker Frank Marino Turns 50 Tomorrow (Nov. 20)

Montreal, Quebec (WFN) -- Many guitarists wouldn't mind being compared with Jimi Hendrix but it has become a cross to bear for rocker Frank Marino. The Mahogany Rush band leader has long been plagued by a bizarre false rumor that when Hendrix died in 1970, his soul entered Marino's body and gave him the sudden ability to play guitar. Marino was 16 at the time the rumor started and says he didn't know enough about the media to refute the story. As a result, he still meets people who think the Hendrix transformation really happened, when the truth is that he was playing guitar for two years before Hendrix died. Marino has fewer hassles from the rumor these days since many of his new fans are young kids who are only interested in his music. Still, he turns 50 on Saturday (Nov. 20) and says the best birthday present would be to never hear the Hendrix rumor again. Marino has just released "RealLive!," a two-CD set that is his first release in three years.
