New York, NY (WFN) -- Macy's will be putting a few of its famous Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons in deep storage this year. A spokeswoman for the parade line-up says Jimmy Neutron, Cheesasaurus Rex -- the Kraft Mac & Cheese character -- and a balloon called Wild Thing, which is based on the children's book "Where The Wild Things Are," won't be returning this year. The spokeswoman says retired balloons are stored in a warehouse -- sort of an old folks' home for balloons -- and some could be cut up and recycled into new floating figures. Up until 1933, unwanted balloons were released and allowed to float away. And in the 1940s, they were given to the military to aid their wartime rubber drive. This year, a few new balloons will be on the parade route to replace the retirees: Chicken Little, SpongeBob SquarePants, Weebles and the M&M characters.
