Santa Cruz, CA -- "Survivor: Africa" alum Lex van den Berghe enjoyed his experience on the hit reality show but his proudest legacy is being a punk rock parent.

The 41 year old believes his experience on the show has given a voice to the many responsible adults who grew up listening to punk rock and have adapted its beliefs to parenthood.

For instance, Lex says he takes a "do it yourself" approach to life and has taught his kids to "question authority and not only to be different, but to celebrate it."

Although he has traveled to remote parts of the world for "Survivor," he tries to emphasize to his kids that he "...would have found a way to have these adventures" even if he wasn't picked for the show.

These days, Lex spends his time writing freelance, playing drums in two rock bands and, quote, "trying to figure out a way to lengthen my ride so I don't have to go back to a 9-to-5 job."
