Los Angeles, CA (WFN) -- Actor Karl Malden hasn't been working as much in the last few years -- and that's fine with him. The 92-year-old actor's last job was playing a priest on "The West Wing" a few years back but has no plans to stage a comeback. In his words, "I'm not retired. I quit!" Malden -- who won the 1951 Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his work in "A Streetcar Named Desire" -- says an actor only "has so many faces and then it's just an ego trip" and doesn't regret slowing down because he lacks the energy needed to do his best. He says he used to spend his days on the road or on location but now he says, "I'm enjoying my granddaughters more than my own children." But while Malden isn't looking for more work, he doesn't mind looking back. In fact, he will be attending a luncheon on Thursday (Nov. 11) where he will receive the "Monte Christo Award" from the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. Malden is especially excited by the honor because it will be given to him by his old friend, actor Michael Douglas, his co-star on the 1970s-era cop show, "The Streets Of San Francisco."
