Portland, OR (WFN) -- Humans aren't the only residents of the U.S. who are suffering an obesity epidemic: So are their dogs and cats. According to research from the records at the country's biggest private veterinary practice, 78 percent of pets are considered "heavy." Although the statistics from Banfield The Pet Hospital don't account for every pet in the U.S., they do comprise about 2.5 million cats and dogs. Banfield's records also show that the most popular name for fat cats is "Tigger" while heavy hounds are most commonly named "Max." However, there are three U.S. towns where the felines are fit and the rovers are in shape: Milpitas, California; Concord, California; and Vancouver, Washington. Statistics show that those locales are home to the largest number of pets within a normal weight range.
