Carmichael, CA (WFN) -- Your hair can now blow in the wind as you ride your bike down the road even if you're wearing a helmet -- thanks to something called a "Hairy Helmet." The new novelty item is a colored mohawk that can be Velcroed to a bicycle helmet. It comes in colors from bright orange to lime green and ranges in price from $23 to $40. Creator Pat Nevin says he made the hairpiece to "encourage kids to wear their helmets more often," but more importantly, to spruce up dull looking dome-protectors. He insists that adults will like the "faux" mohawk as much as kids and thinks that even hardcore biker types and Hell's Angels will sport the helmet hairpiece but admits, "...they may be a little shocked by the bright colors since they seem to prefer only black-colored things."
