St. Helena, CA (WFN) -- It took an engineer to build a better burger. Clint Stephenson, a Texas-based engineer who calculates the center of gravity for spacecraft, has won the title of "Best Burger" in the Sutter Home Wineries' Build a Better Burger Contest. The contest was held in honor of the 100th birthday of the burger at the World's Fair in St. Louis, and Stephenson won it with a grilled California Avocado BLT Burger with Caramelized Chipotle Onions and bleu cheese spread. Stephenson says he started with a basic burger and discovered the winning recipe by trial and error. He says his engineering background may have helped him pay better attention to measurements because, in his words, "In engineering you pay attention to detail and specific numbers." As his reward he won $50,000, which he says is going toward building a house for him and his wife.
