|
San Diego, CA (WFN) -- Janet Leigh, who died Sunday (Oct. 3) at age 77, was best-known for her infamous shower scene in the Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 thriller "Psycho." The shower slashing took up only 45 seconds of screen time, but there sure is a lot of lore about Leigh's onscreen murder. For instance, Michael Douglas once admitted that when he was working in the editing rooms of Universal Studios in 1960, he and his pals would gawk at nude outtakes from the shower sequence. And although Leigh had a life-long fear of showers after filming the movie, she didn't mind drawing pictures of them: A sketch of the murder scene drawn by the actress went up for sale at a celebrity auction in 1999. Still, Leigh eventually headed back to the showers: She good-naturedly participated in a reenactment of the scene at Universal's Hollywood theme park on the 40th anniversary of "Psycho's" release in August, 2000.
