|
Gillette, WY (WFN) -- Gillette, Wyoming, isn't considered a hot spot for art like New York or Paris but that will soon change if artist Harvey Jackson has his way. Jackson is putting the finishing touches on what is believed to be the world's largest mural, a 220 by 56 feet painting depicting a tractor, a train and a cow, which represent Gillette's major industries. Just to give you an idea of how big the monumental mural is: The cow is larger than George Washington's face on Mount Rushmore. Jackson spent more than 18 months and 220 gallons of paint on his mural, which is located on the side of a warehouse in an industrial park. But he isn't stopping there. Jackson is contemplating doing similar projects in other cities but says he really has his eye on Gillette's seven water towers. He is currently trying to draw up support to paint the towers and if Jackson's picture of the future comes to fruition, the city of 23,000 will soon be surrounded by a series of massive paintings and become known "the mural capital of the world."
