New York, NY -- Dog lovers now have an obituary service to give their beloved bowser a send off to the big fire hydrant in the sky.

Publishers at the magazine "The New York Dog" will have the world's first obituary column when their new magazine hits stands tomorrow (Oct. 1) for the first time.

The column is just part of the irreverent magazine, which also has features on canine haute couture, dog horoscopes, Atkins doggie diet tips and a feature on how to win your dog in a custody battle.

Publisher Gregg Oehler says there's such passion over dogs, especially in New York, where he estimates he passes about 100 throughout his day.

The reason for the obits though, as Oehler puts it: "You lose a child and think about it for life. You lose a dog and you think about it too."

Oehler says since word got out on the obituaries, the magazine has been inundated with so many final salutes to spot that he's uncertain how they'll fit them into the 108-page magazine.
