Los Angeles, CA (WFN) -- Some people think being a "diva" is an excuse for bad behavior, but that excuse gets a bum note from actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, best known as Brandy's mother on the UPN sitcom, "Moesha." She says too many people focus on a diva's big hair or big attitude, instead of having a big heart but she's on a crusade to change things. For the last 14 years, she has organized a benefit for AIDS charities called "Divas Simply Singing" that features females singing their hearts out with only a piano, not an entourage. This year's benefit takes place Saturday (Oct. 2) in Los Angeles and features 1980s teen idol Deborah Gibson and former "227" star Jackee and "Rugrats" voiceover actress E.G. Daily. If you think having so many divas on one stage might lead to "Dynasty"-like cat fights, guess again. Ralph says the highlight of the show is when all the divas get on stage to perform a tune written especially for the event, "Simply, We Sing."
