Phoenix, AZ -- Republicans and Democrats might face a stiff challenge for the presidency in 2008 from a aspiring political party whose origins began from a recent book. Readers of the 2003 fictional book, "The Shift" (Dreamtime Publications), are laying the groundwork to start the Centrust Party, the same political party written about in the book. The novel centers around a small group of people who start a new political party that captures the imagination of the public and ultimately succeeds in capturing the White House. Members of the new party are so inspired by the book that they expect to field political candidates by 2006. Some objectives of the party will be to pursue a progressive flat tax, campaign finance reform and more institute environmental regulations. John English, the author of "The Shift," says he isn't all that surprised about the response to his book saying he could see the writing on the wall. In his words, "I had a vision of how big this could be." Still, don't expect English to be the party's presidential candidate in 2008 because, as he puts it, "I promised my wife I wouldn't go into politics."
