New York, NY (WFN) -- Carson Kressley may star on "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy" but he insists he doesn't have his own eye on straights at all.

Kressley admits he and the other members of the Fab Five love helping straight guys look their best, but he's not "recruiting" any of them to join his "team" because, as he puts it, "I don't need the competition."

These days, Kressley is keeping his eyes focused on bookstore shelves. He's just written a new style guide, "Off The Cuff: The Essential Guide To Style For Men And The Women Who Love Them" (Dutton) that he hopes makes regular guys understand the difference between style and fashion.

Some of his tips include this advice on wearing white shoes after Labor Day: "Only if you live in California or Florida; or are a nurse or a priest."

Also, he says tennis shoes are only for the gym. Otherwise leave them "behind closed doors."

Finally, Kressley gives a dressing-down to men who wear boxers, saying "Boxers are hot. Boxer shorts are not."

"Off The Cuff" hits bookstores next Monday (Sep. 27).
