San Francisco, CA (WFN) -- A Swiss information annex in San Francisco is milking a Swiss tradition: milking stools. On Sept. 9, Swissnex, the Consulate General of Switzerland, will unveil the exhibit "The Milking Stool" where designers from the University of Art and Design of Lausanne, Switzerland, have taken a new spin on an old tradition. The traditional Swiss milking stool has a belt on it so a farmer can move from cow to cow hands free. It also has only one central leg so that a farmer can balance on uneven surfaces. Some of the stools in the 32-piece exhibit include: a pair of pants with the stool sewn in; a Sony Playstation as the stool's seat with a controller attached; and a stool with a spot for a bowl of cereal so you can milk directly from the cow into the bowl. Organizers say culture lovers have gushed over the stools in Europe and Asia and expect the show to have legs in San Francisco and in Santa Monica where it will stop next.
