Anaheim, CA (WFN) -- A reclusive artist who vowed not to release her works until long after she died has released an image 90 years ahead of schedule. A California-based artist who calls herself T. Royal pushed forward the release date of her "Statue of Limitations" drawing because she says this work was "too poignant to let it slip under the radar." The pencil drawing depicts a sorrowful Statue of Liberty holding her head in her hand and the artist completed it back in 1991 during the Gulf War. Royal says a private collector in Detroit, Mich., owns the work but she still controls the image. She says she stopped releasing her art 10 years ago because, as she puts it, "The commercial aspects of the art world were not pleasing to me." Despite seeing this as the right time to release the work, Royal says she has no plans to release any further images until she passes on, adding "I anticipate living a nice, long healthy life."
