New York, NY (WFN) -- The millions of Americans who aren't planning to vote in November's presidential elections may have bigger problems than voter apathy: They could also be suffering from low self-esteem.

Refusing to vote is linked to a poor self-image, according to New York-based "life designer" Beth Schoenfeldt, who helps people get out of their relationship and career ruts.

She says many clients come to her reeking of voter apathy, and she sees it as a sign of bigger problems with self-esteem.

In Schoenfeldt's words, "If you're apathetic about voting, you're probably apathetic about the rest of your life."

She advises her clients to make a decision about their vote so they'll start feeling like their ideas count -- which is a step toward feeling more confidence at work and in relationships.

Schoenfeldt admits that voting isn't going to solve all your problems, but it's a big hurdle to overcome in repairing your self-esteem.
