America: Land Of The Free, Home Of The Spam

Lynnfield, MA -- America is not only the land of the free, it's the home of the spam.

According to a spam study by the Sophos company, the majority of those annoying spam e-mails originates from the United States -- a whopping 43 percent.

By comparison, the No. 2 spam supplier, South Korea, is responsible for 15 percent of spam messages while China and Hong Kong send 11 percent of the irritating e-mails.

Other countries whose citizens send out lots of spam include Brazil, Canada and Japan.

Finally, although you might get a lot of e-mails from supposed political leaders in Nigeria and Liberia, neither country makes the top 10 for spam sending.
