Columbus, OH (WFN) -- Ferret lovers in Ohio will be judging which ferret is the fairest this Saturday (Aug. 28).

The 6th Annual Ferret Buckeye Bash -- the largest ferret show in the U.S. -- is taking place and nearly 300 critters from all over America will be competing to see which ferret is Best In Show.

Organizer Scarlett Gray-Saling says judges will be ferreting out the top ferrets in categories like "fastest licker," "longest kisser," and the all-important "paper bag escape."

In addition, the finest ferrets will be marked on their disposition -- which means no judge biting.

Gray-Saling says ferrets are the cat's meow and she should know -- she has 72 of them. She says they act like kittens but can be walked on leashes like dogs and sleep 75 percent of the time, which means they make great pets for single people.

But while ferrets from all over the country will be crawling to the ferret fest, Gray-Saling is asking owners to leave any ferrets over the age of eight at home. In her words, "That's geriatric in ferret terms and they may not be able to handle the pressure."
