Fort Collins, CO (WFN) -- Osama bin Laden may have been raised as an emotionally insecure child thanks to his mother.

Dr. Zeynep Biringen, an expert in parent-child relationships who wrote the new book, "Raising a Secure Child" (Perigee), says it's likely bin Laden grew up insecure, like many world leaders do.

Dr. Biringen says 20 to 30 percent of people around the world are raised emotionally insecure, and bin Laden displays the signs of it.

She says insecurity is linked to aggression and bullying and insecure people have low levels of altruism.

Dr. Biringen blames Osama's mama because, universally, it's the mother who is left with the responsibility of raising a child.

She says Osama's mama was probably raised as an insecure child as well, and passed along her own insecurities to her terrorist tyke.

However, bin Laden's father can also be guilty if he didn't support his wife or wasn't emotionally available for his son.
