	2004-08-12 - Weird News Wireless Flash News 'Ren & Stimpy' Creator Wants More Beatings

Ottawa, Ontario (WFN) -- Cartoons today just aren't punchy enough for "Ren & Stimpy" creator John Kricfalusi's tastes. In Kricfalusi's opinion, they need more beatings like they had in classic Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera cartoons. That's what's wrong with cartoons today says Kricfalusi, who will be hosting a "Ren & Stimpy" revival at the American Cinematheque at Los Angeles' Egyptian Theatre, September 7-8. In his opinion, cartoons aren't giving people what they want: beatings. He says, "I don't get into blood and gore. I like it pure." He also feels that cartoons aren't allowed to evolve over time like they once did. "The look doesn't change. That's the rule today." Also, at the event he'll be showing young whipper- snappers some of his favorite old time classic cartoons, as well as two new "Ren & Stimpy" cartoons which will debut on Spike TV later this year.
