|
Los Angeles, CA -- Here's a Tinseltown tidbit: The creatures for the movie "Alien Vs. Predator" only spent one day on set battling each other for the big battle movie. Tom Woodruff Jr. and Alec Gillis are the animatronic designers behind the upcoming summer blockbuster which premieres mid-August. Besides designing the suits, Tom also wears the Alien suit for the movie and says that "it felt like a conspiracy" because he and Ian White, the stuntman who wears the Predator suit, weren't battling face-to-face. Other "AvP" facts include... -- Wearing the rubber suit was so straining on White that he trained for the job by running while wearing a vest filled with rocks to increase his stamina. -- In previous movies, Tom was glued into his Alien suit which left him unable to eat or go to the bathroom for 11-hour periods. This time, the duo modified the suit so it could be removed quickly. -- Finally, Woodruff and Gillis also built a queen Alien which they claim is the most complicated animatronic ever built, with twice as many movement points as the T-Rex in "Jurassic Park."
