Santa Cruz, CA (WFN) -- They say politics makes strange bedfellows, and they're not kidding. According to Susie Bright, who edits the annual "Best American Erotica" book series, this year's U.S. presidential election is spawning some trends in lusty literature. She's seeing a whole lot of sexy satire, especially stories with thinly-veiled versions of Attorney General John Ashcroft in a starring role as a patron at a bordello, S&M dungeon or another libidinous locale. Candidate George W. Bush is also a target of erotica authors, but he mainly appears in a "junior" role to his campy cabinet members. Another election year trend is inspired by Bush's trumpeting of sexual abstinence: Sexy stories set in a future world where intercourse is outlawed and people only get to get off if they're chosen in a special sex lottery. Bright expects "there's more of this to come" as the election creeps closer. Her latest book is "Three the Hard Way" (Simon & Schuster).
